Marine Scotland & SNH Hope Spot Surveys
Marine Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage are planning seabed surveys within the Hope Spot during June 2018. Areas surveyed may include the Sound of Jura, Loch Sween and Loch Craignish. They will use a drop-down video camera to search for Priority Marine Feature species and habitats that are at risk from fishing methods that make contact with the seabed. These include northern sea fan and sponge communities, horse mussel beds, maerl beds, seagrass meadows and flame shell beds.
